Modern Victorian House Tour

September 8th, 2010

Today’s house tour is from Illico Design.

Originally from France, Carine Magescas of Illico Design in San Francisco started on a different path in life.  Her passions about beautiful, clean yet warm, modern spaces led her to start her own design firm.  Below is a perfect example of her work—the modern victorian.

It’s Wednesday and time to talk about some of the talented folks out there that I happen to come across while surfing the net!

Lara from the blog, less cake {more frosting} designed a “rad” surf-themed room makeover for her son.

Here’s the before.

With a new, more big boy color scheme, new accessories and bedding, Lara was able to completely transform this space.  Here’s the after.

Love that color combo!

Found out about this prop stylist from HGTV’s Emily Henderson on her blog The Brass Petal.  I imagine he must have a colorful personality with the color he brought into our lives from the pages of magazines like Blueprint.  Remember when?  Sigh.

Don’t you just love this trend of bringing natural materials into the home?  Canadian artist Olga Oreshyna takes it one step further by using reclaimed wood pieces to create the most unique artwork and decorative wall panels for the modern home.  Olga sees a pile of scrap wood or driftwood and carefully arranges them together like puzzle pieces to create a dramatic effect that plays with light and texture.  Take a peek at some of her work…

This New York designer has a fine arts background which is evident in his designs.  Comfortable with mixing styles like primitive with modern, he has a unique look that appreciates the location.  Here’s a sneak peak at his work.  I especially love his bedrooms.  Particularly the pink bedspread in the 2nd photo-very chic!
