This New York designer has a fine arts background which is evident in his designs. Comfortable with mixing styles like primitive with modern, he has a unique look that appreciates the location. Here’s a sneak peak at his work. I especially love his bedrooms. Particularly the pink bedspread in the 2nd photo-very chic!

More Overnight Design

Although many of us may never stay in a luxurious hotel like The Surrey in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, there are many design ideas that we can replicate on a smaller scale in our own homes. Lauren Rottet is the designer behind the recent renovation of this infamous address. Her pallete of shades of grey & black paired with her marriage of traditional with modern created a sophisticated and unique look throughout the hotel. Check it out!

Two ideas to steal above. Separate living and dining with furniture placement. The console table behind the couch is an easy way to make it work. Be creative with side tables. The silver tree stump is a fun place to put your drink.

Keep things in scale. The large, white lamp helps balance the large upholstered headboard.

Let your towels be part of your display. Add monogram towels for a unique touch.

Love the quilted wall above. Maybe a great focal wall in a bedroom.

Take advantage of wall cavaties when renovating to make the most of your space for storage and display.

Add a splash of color with 1 piece in the room. Use a whimsy centerpiece. Frame enlarged typography for easy art.

Rainy Day

After a rainy Friday, they are calling for more rain on Saturday! Apparently Tropical Storm Danny is stopping by for a visit.

Well at least I was able to escape to the beach earlier in the week before Danny packed his bags to start his tour of the east coast. Although the waves were wicked, there was plenty of sunshine!

Every now and then I actually enjoy a rainy Saturday morning. Gives me an excuse to sleep in and possibly catch up on some reading in bed.

There is nothing like cuddling up under the cozy comforter listening to the summer rain outside! Speaking of cozy, here are a few cozy beds that I wouldn’t mind spending a Saturday morning in drinking tea and reading my fav design magazines.
